Today, the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs rolls out the red carpet for the Salute to Escoffier, its annual celebration of Georges Auguste Escoffier, the larger than life Master Chef and restaurateur who fathered French cuisine. The events run through Sunday, January 31, and admission is limited to 250 people.
Highlighted by cooking demonstrations, wine luncheons, cocktail seminars and a blowout brunch, the epicurean extravaganza comes to a culinary climax on Saturday night with the Grand Buffet, which features a champagne and caviar reception, French wines, five separate courses with more than one hundred dishes, a gazillion cheeses and twice as many desserts. In other words, gluttony at its gastronomic finest.
The proceeds from the event benefit the Education Fund of the Colorado
Restaurant Association and The BROADMOOR’s Culinary Training Program and Scholarship Fund.
