The resignation of CIA director David Petraeus has a Denver connection: Reported mistress/biographer Paula Broadwell attended DU, and some believe she may have shared confidential info in a speech there last month. But in reporting about this link, 7News made headlines of its own, by airing a cover of her Petraeus book, All In, doctored to read All Up in My Snatch. Photos and video below.
Here’s a shot of the actual book jacket….
And here’s an image sent to John Aravosis at America Blog that’s said to be from a 7News broadcast during yesterday’s 5 p.m. newscast: In addition, a video of the story is circulating. See it below.
What happened? We contacted the station’s news director, Jeff Harris, who shared the following statement:
When news happens, Westword is there —
Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $50,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community. If Westword matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
It was a regrettable and embarrassing error. We are mortified this appeared during our 5 p.m. news broadcast. The editor pulled the image of the book cover from the Internet without realizing it had been doctored. We sincerely regret the error and have corrected the story to prevent any recurrence of its broadcast. We are following up internally as well, to avoid a repeat of this inexcusable oversight.
Oh, what a tangled web. Here’s the video.
