It was just over a year ago that Dina and Frank Berta closed Frank’s Kitchen, the ten-seat spot in the Whittier neighborhood that they’d opened in May 2011. But the space at 2600 High Street was quickly transformed into Jammin’ Joe’s, a barbeque joint that expanded to two more locations — one in Englewood, one in Wheat Ridge — early this year. Joe Van Dyke, aka “Jammin’ Joe,” a blues guitarist and restaurateur from Virginia, had found an ad for the location on Craigslist, and decided it would be ideal for a barbecue joint.
But there were some drawbacks from the start: The space is small, and it had no liquor license. And now it’s dried up altogether. The phone is disconnected, the website is up for sale and the space is for lease.
