On Monday morning, the Food Bank of the Rockies was presented with 4,600 pies from Village Inn. To celebrate fifty years of business in Colorado, the company made a big donation of pumpkin cream pie, lemon cream pie, Boston cream pie and carrot cake.
“The pies will most likely be distributed before Thanksgiving to our partner agencies. We serve over 1,000 different hunger relief programs,” says Food Bank of the Rockies media manager Greg Vogelzang.
Village Inn isn’t the only company helping out, either. “We do receive many donations from restaurants and grocers…we received a truckload of onions from Sakata Farms a couple of weeks ago,” Vogelzang adds. The Food Bank Warehouse is located at 10700 East 45th Avenue and could always use volunteers. For information, go to www.foodbankrockies.com. — Tyler Nemkov
