Yesterday, a few friends marked what would have been Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 253rd birthday at the Mozart Lounge, 1417 Krameria Street. The bar was quiet — not unlike Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in C major, K. 545, for example.

But behind the scenes at the Mozart, there’s plenty going on. Because this classic Denver dive is closing, and on February 14, new owners will introduce a revamped Mozart Lounge, complete with a piano bar.

Mozart would be proud. For developing details, keep an eye on the bar’s new website (itself an innovation).
