Canadian steakhouse chain the Keg Steakhouse & Bar staked out a spot in LoDo in the early days of the 21st century, serving wallet-friendly steaks, like a signature baseball sirloin, and other family-oriented fare in the quickly growing neighborhood. But competition is now fierce in that booming restaurant market ,and the LoDo Keg has closed.
Soon after that Keg opened, we dined there with legendary concert promoter and beef aficionado Barry Fey, who said: “This is not a steakhouse. This is a restaurant.” But the eatery at least honored Fey’s request for Heinz 57 steak sauce, one of his measures of a true steakhouse. Whether you like your cut with or without Heinz 57, you’re not entirely out of luck: The Keg operates another branch on West Colfax Avenue in the Colorado Mill shopping center.
