Right now, Democrat Jared Polis is the Colorado congressional leader when it comes to using new media, sometimes to excess; note that last week, Polis’ staff uploaded more than twenty healthcare stories about his constituents to YouTube. But Republican Mike Coffman seems ready to give JP a run for his money. Coffman has launched his own YouTube channel, which he introduces in the welcome video above — and it’s not the only clip available. Also on view is footage from several U.S. House speeches, including one about tort reform embedded below. Coffman promises to keep the content fresh, and he’s smart to do so. After all, technology is nonpartisan. Why should he let the Dems have all the fun?

In 2008, he became the lead writer for Westword‘s news blog, The Latest Word, a position he held until January 2023. Michael continues to freelance for Westword, covering everything from business to sports and the media; he also contributes to Jazziz, a national music magazine. He holds a bachelor’s degree from what is now Colorado Mesa University and master’s degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Northwestern University.
