The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
While there were problems at July 4 fireworks shows in Windsor and Grand Lake, the Independence Day Eve spectacle Wednesday at Civic Center Park was major-problem-free, allowing a huge throng to enjoy rockets’ red glare and a beautiful night in Colorado. Photographer Kenneth Hamblin was there, and he came back with some wonderful portraits of Denverites from eight months to eighty gathered to watch the skies. Check them out below, and click to see the complete Independence Day Eve in Civic Center slide show.
