The Kinky Boots team of Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein was a match made in heaven when it came to writing a multiple Tony Award-winning Broadway hit; the final product — a hilarious romp about the owner of a shoe factory and the sassy drag queen who saves his business — overflows with Lauper’s spunky music and Fierstein’s book, which is loosely based on a true story. No wonder the Broadway show’s first tour to Denver is creating a nearly Book-of-Mormon-sized buzz among local theater-goers.

Kick up your stiletto heels for joy! Kinky Boots opens tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 14th and Champa Streets, and runs through November 9. For tickets, starting at $25, go to denvercenter.org or call 303-893-4100.

Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m.; Thu., Oct. 30, 2 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Oct. 29. Continues through Nov. 9, 2014
