Hangar 2 Partners — a partnership between Larimer Associates and Hartman-Ely Investments — broke ground last fall on the “Lowry Dining District,” two new buildings outside of Hangar 2, the historic building in the Lowry neighborhood that once held Air Force planes when the area was a military base. This week, the first of four new eateries opened in the “Lowry Dining District”: Cafe Mercato, a second restaurant for Giancarlo Macchiarella, the executive chef-owner of Locanda del Borgo. Cafe Mercato features shareable Italian dishes and an expansive wine “library.” Photographer Danielle Lirette stopped by this week; here’s a taste of what you’ll find at Cafe Mercato.
