Some folks are always jumping the gun when it comes to holiday decorations. Still, the idea of trotting out the Christmas ornaments before Halloween arrives is so bizarre that it’s just not done — particularly in oh-so-stylish Park Hill.
Unless, of course, you happen to be shooting a movie. A family-friendly, warm-the-cockles venture called Christmastime, with a script set in Boulder. And currently shooting, at the height of sunny Indian summer, in the heart of east Denver.

The project is helmed by producer/director/actor Michael Landon Jr., son of the late king of family fare (Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven). Little Joe’s heir has carved out a Hallmark-worthy career for himself with a series of TV movies and the series When Calls the Heart, which was supposed to be filmed in Colorado, but wasn’t.
As a consolation prize, Christmastime has a crew of close to a hundred people, is expected to drop around $2.9 million in local payroll and other spending, and has received close to $600,000 in rebates and incentives from state authorities seeking to boost Colorado’s film industry.
