The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
Turns out the Englewood bicyclist injured in a lightning strike earlier this week is accustomed to traveling in faster vehicles. He’s Richard “The Rock” Burton, a well-known figure on the local racing circuit; for instance, he won the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck race at Colorado National Speedway almost exactly a year ago. BigWestRacing.com has become one of the main places on the web for Burton’s friends and colleagues to share their thoughts and convey their best wishes to him and his family. The site put up a thread called “Prayers for Richard Burton,” and as of now, the comments stretch over eleven pages. Clearly, there are a lot of folks out there hoping that Burton’s life gets back on track.
