$20,000

This week, Chris Walker reported about a large police crackdown on several homeless encampments, including one near the Denargo Market.

Like past homeless sweeps, this latest series provoked widely disparate responses from our readers.

Some regarded the action to be inhumane, unnecessary and/or counterproductive, while others sided with the City of Denver’s enforcement of its controversial urban camping ban. For example, Barbara writes:

I live at 17th and Glenarm. I am not allowed to sleep/camp anywhere I want. These people that don’t want to work shouldn’t be, either. Arrest them for trespassing. All these people that say leave them alone, why don’t you open up your yard and have them camp there? They could shit and piss all over your house. It’s awesome.
