Today, a jet crash in Russia claimed at least 43 lives, including two former (and well-remembered) Colorado Avalanche players, Karlis Skrastins and Ruslan Salei. Skrastins was known as the “Iron Man” for playing 487 consecutive games between 2003 and 2008, while Salei skated for the Avs from 2007 to 2010, providing veteran leadership and toughness to a squad that desperately needed it.
Look below to see five videos about the pair — two focusing on Skrastins, including one that plays tribute to his consecutive game streak, a pair of clips featuring Salei brawling and scoring, and a salute to the pair complete with footage from the crash. Only a small portion of the last video is in English, but the images will speak volumes, especially to Avalanche fans.
