Gasoline Lollipops Thought Nobody Came to a Concert

Clay Rose: “We somehow fit the whole band on a creaky wooden stage with nails sticking out of it in the back of #Vybe, which was under construction. We had to go around the back to load our instruments in because of the sawing and hammering going on in the bar and broken glass all over the floor – not to mention that the front door was locked. We had a gig that night at the Boulder Theater and were telling each other, ‘Just get through this,’ and accepting that we’d be playing for the soundman and the bartender while being sandwiched between the dumpster and porta-potties.

“My eyes were closed during the second song, and I was wondering what the hell I was doing with my life when suddenly I opened them and saw the patio was full of dancing fans who’d just rushed down the stairs! Apparently, someone had forgotten to unlock the front door and there had been a line of people down the block waiting to get in. My faith in rock and roll was restored that day, and it hasn’t faltered since. God bless Colorado music lovers!”

Gasoline Lollipops will play the Fox Theatre on December 31 and the Gothic Theatre on February 22.
