Cat had a fancy Friday night last week on South Broadway at Fancy Tiger’s first birthday party. Owners Matthew Brown and Jaime Jennings sure know how to throw a kickin’ birthday for their DIY boutique, with a delicious spread of never-ending vegan appetizers and the omnipresent cooler of PBR. They also turned the stereo down every half hour to toss out a slew of door prizes, everything from knitting kits to screen prints.
Everyone was out to toast the occasion, including Kim Robertson of Potential Fashions and Leslie Saxton of BrainChild Apparel. Cat also got word that fashion show producer bigwigs Fashion Denver and Locality Productions are teaming up to create a quarterly magazine, Fabricate, that will focus solely on local designers, boutiques and fashion events. The first issue of Fabricate is looking to hit the streets in October, just in time to preview Fashion Denver’s fall market. It’s about time that someone else is trying to get the word out; there is more than enough going on in Denver fashion for just one Cat to cover.
