Patrick and Mike Liberty, the brothers behind Denver-based Akomplice Clothing, have created a new line that’s a testament to their commitment to youth culture. Akomplice partnered with Original Kids from Brazil on a collaborative T-shirt series that provided children in foster care a chance not just to create, but potentially gain financial support.

For this project, Akomplice decided to ignore the typical charity structure and instead brought the beneficiaries — foster children in South Brazil — into the creative process. The children were presented with a pair of images and encouraged to add their own artistic interpretation with paint.
The freshly reinterpreted images were then scanned, printed and emblazoned on T-shirts and crewnecks that just went on sale this past weekend. Akomplice will donate 50 percent of the profits from this capsule collection to the children tapped to collaborate on the project. The line is available at Akomplice retailers and on the Akomplice website.
