Since 2005, the burgeoning East End Arts District has held biannual art walks to showcase the reinvented neighborhood and its new wares. But this summer, the strip of East Colfax Avenue that runs from Dallas to Havana Streets — otherwise known as the East End — is “bursting at the seams,” declares Kim Harrell, artist and co-owner of East End Applied Arts Gallery. The District has reserved Second Fridays for a monthly art walk, its corners are now decorated with public art, new storefronts keep popping up, and this year’s Summer Art Walk promises to be the biggest and best yet, with 100 percent East End art. Events include gallery receptions, African dance, theater premieres, mini-pottery workshops, live broadcasts, food specials and, wildest of all, steamroller printing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, as well as a lot of art on display. Pedicabs will be on hand to take spectators from gallery to gallery, so there’s no excuse not to hustle over to East Colfax and, in Harrell’s words, “interact with art.” Guides will be available at the information booth at 9898 East Colfax; the Art Walk takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Call 720-276-2335 or visit www.eastendartsdistrict.org for details.

Fri., June 13, 5-9 p.m., 2008
