Ten years ago, both the comedy club and the resident ensemble Bovine Metropolis kicked off their careers by moving into the old Changing Scene theater space, a quaint upstairs location at 1527 ½ Champa Street, and staging something called The Confession Stand. “It was the very first sketch show performed on the Bovine stage, written by the original cast at the time,” notes Bovine’s Linnea Brutlag of the scripted song-and-dance based on secrets, fantasies and daydreams. “It was one of our most popular shows.” So popular, apparently, that it gave the place just the kind of boost it needed to get off the ground: ten years later, Bovine is still going strong.

To celebrate, Bovine presents a restaging of The Confession Stand with an interesting quirk: It hasn’t been altered or updated in any way. “It’s like a snapshot of that time, giving a flavor of what it was like here back in the year 2000,” Brutlag explains. “It’s about our roots, where we started.”

The comic time capsule premieres tonight at 8 p.m. and continues Fridays and Saturdays through June 26; for tickets, $16, visit www.bovinemetropolis.com or call 303-758-4722.

Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: May 7. Continues through June 26, 2010
