Sugar and spice and everything nice: That’s the siren song of this year’s Pie in the Sky, an annual fundraising event that benefits Project Angel Heart, a local nonprofit that creates — and delivers — nutritious meals to those battling life-threatening illnesses. But you can help sweeten the life of someone in need this Thanksgiving simply by ordering a pie (or a sky of pies), the proceeds from which go to-ward ensuring that Project Angel Heart can continue to dish out healthy eats. Bluepoint Bakery is donating all the pies — apple, cherry, pecan and pumpkin — which are $25 each; the price of just one pie is enough to supply each Project Angel Heart client with five meals. “This is a really great way to support what we do on so many levels and to make Thanksgiving a truly special day for someone who doesn’t have friends or family to share it with,” says Jon Emanuel, executive chef of the nonprofit. Between October 15 and November 15, the pies will be available at all Sunflower Farmers’ Market stores, from Thornton to Greenwood Village, or you can order a pie online at www.projectangelheart.org/events/pie-in-the-sky.html.
