Once a year, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science takes its popular Science Lounge series, which offers adults the chance to enjoy science, food and libations in a fun atmosphere, to an off-site location. Tonight’s Science Lounge: Experiencing the Speakeasy will take place at the Savoy at Curtis Park, a former private social club and dance hall.

“We’ll have a guest speaker from the Blair-Caldwell African-American Research Library to talk about the history of Five Points and the jazz scene there,” explains museum spokeswoman Maura O’Neal, “and we’ll have two group dance lessons. We’ll also have some science stations focused on the distilling of spirits and probability exercises surrounding rolling dice and other gambling games.” A food truck will be stationed outside for eats.

Admission to the Science Lounge is $10 for museum members and $12 for the general public; the program will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Savoy, 2700 Arapahoe Street. (Note: The event will be held on the second floor, which is accessible only by stairs.) Visit dmns.org or call 303-370-6000.
