Where vampires thrive, black humor is certain to show up sooner or later. And thanks to best-selling author and biting humorist Christopher Moore, funny vampires make hilarious mayhem in San Francisco in Bite Me: A Love Story, the last book in a trilogy about bloodsucking protagonist Tommy Flood and his vampire sweetheart, Jody Stroud, whose laugh-out-loud adventures together began in 1995’s Bloodsucking Fiends and continued in 2007’s You Suck. Along the way, the couple has hooked up with returning characters, including goth-girl sidekick Abby Normal and her anti-vampire biochemist boyfriend, Steve “Foo Dog” Wong, not to mention a toothy vampire cat named Chet. Throughout, Moore pulls readers along a fast-paced path of sophisticated twists and turns through the dark side, with a healthy helping of ha-ha.

Sink your teeth into Bite Me when Moore signs copies of the novel at 2 p.m. today at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th Street; free tickets for a place in the book-signing line will be given out starting at 1 p.m., and seating for the reading will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, visit www.tatteredcover.com or call 303-436-1070.
