Now that you’ve geared up for snowboard season at the Labor Day bargain bins and are pining for the first powder dump of the season, Snowboard on the Block has the fix you need to get you through to opening day, still at least a month away. The second annual festival, presented by Snowboard Colorado magazine, features the local premieres of more than twenty films, a rail-jam event, and performances by the Misfits, Mobb Deep, Speedwolf and a dozen other artists.
“This time of year, it’s all butterflies before Loveland and A-Basin open — hopefully in October — and Snowboard on the Block is a great way for our whole community to come together and see all those movies in the same day, with a festival atmosphere, and get fired up to make the transition to snowboard season,” says Chris Harris, spokesman for Denver-based Never Summer Industries, whose fifth team video, Dang Bud!, is among the featured films.
The all-ages festival starts today at 10:30 a.m.; activities will take place indoors and out, in a two-block area around 35th and Walnut streets. Tickets are $15 in advance at blockfestival.com or $25 at the door, with $45 VIP tickets also available.
