In the days of Cannes, Sundance and even the Starz Denver Film Festival, the Breckenridge Film Festival is an anomaly. The fest has managed to retain a truly indie vibe throughout its thirty years of existence; this year, you can catch 51 different independent dramas, comedies, documentaries, short films and student flicks from the University of Colorado’s Film Studies program over four days of celluloid. Highlights include the opening-night flick Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, starring Anna Mouglalis (pictured), and special closing-night screenings of the inspirational documentary Keep Climbing and D.B. Sweeney’s Two Tickets to Paradise. Sweeney — who wrote, directed, produced and starred in Two Tickets — will be there in person to discuss the film before it screens. Best of all, the fest is affordable; tickets start at $10 for individual films and go to $199 for an all-access pass. Even better: Take in any film before 6 p.m. and get two-for-one tickets — so you can bring a friend or watch two movies for the price of one.
