The City of Lakewood rolls out the red carpet today for its second annual Rockin’ Block Party celebration, which includes balloon tosses, hula-hoop contests and more prize-yielding games for participants of all ages, along with tours of the Lakewood Heritage Center Museum — a landmark site that includes a 1920s schoolhouse and Ethel’s, a vintage beauty salon.

Tours wrap up around 4 p.m. and games go until 7 p.m., when ’80s tribute band Into the Groove performs in the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Amphitheater. And in keeping with this year’s era-specific theme, live music will be paired with a 9 p.m. screening of the classic ‘80s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

The Rockin’ Block Party starts at 10 a.m. at the Lakewood Heritage Center, 801 South Yarrow Way; admission is free. For more information, call 303-987-7800 or go to www.lakewood.org/HCA.

Sat., June 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 2011
