Creating a lavish new architectural studio in Denver’s RiNo district is hard work. And Brian Higgins and Elizabeth Salvione decided to celebrate the completion of RAW Architecture’s new headquarters by taking on more hard work — and throwing a party for charity. Explains Salvione, “We thought that the new space is so spectacular, why don’t we get everyone in here and raise money for a good cause?” To that end, they’re hosting the Mothy Ball, billed as a “thrift-store formal,” which fits thematically with their charities of choice: Goodwill Industries and the Mile High Youth Corps.
“The motto of this event is ‘dress down to help others dress up,’” Salvione notes, adding that guests are asked to bring donations of contemporary professional attire for youth in the workforce. But for the party itself, they’re supposed to clothe themselves in secondhand Goodwill finds for a night of getting down with cocktails, live music and friends in funky duds.
The Mothy Ball starts rolling at 7 p.m. tonight at RAW, 2990 Larimer Street. Admission is $35 and reservations are recommended, as space is limited; visit www.raw-architecture.com/Raw/The_Mothy_Ball.html or call 303-831-4307.
