The paradox of Denver Arts Week is this: Do we really need to set aside a special week to celebrate what happens in Denver every other week of the year as well? The answer is yes. The fact that our city is teeming with galleries, museums, music halls, restaurants and theaters is no secret, but the folks at Visit Denver still think it’s important to keep spreading the word. And that’s probably a good thing — plus the week offers a plethora of one-time deals to make it worth your while.
It all kicks off with this evening’s always-popular Know Your Arts First Friday, a spotlight on Denver’s vibrant arts districts that includes the enticement of artwork with a $52.80 price tag at participating galleries.
Tomorrow’s Night at the Museums features free open houses from 5 to 10 p.m. at more than twenty metro-area facilities — from the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to the MCA — with help from a free shuttle service, and the ongoing Denver’s on Stage program showcases a kaleidoscope of performances all over town, from the best in theater and dance to the acclaimed Starz Denver Film Festival.
You’ll never know how good something is until you try it — and this is your chance to sample Denver’s wide world of arts and culture. For more information and a full schedule of events and deals, go to denver.org/denver-arts-week.
