You’ll never understand Santa until you’ve walked a mile in his boots, so what are you waiting for? Put on his boots — and his hat, suit, beard and various other festive accoutrements — and join up with a bunch of other St. Nicks for SantaCon 08, a Denver Cacophony Society event created for the simple purpose of having fun like only Santa can. “There’s really no leaders — no one is in charge, nobody owns it,” explains Saint A. Clause, chief instigator of the event. “It’s pretty free-form, and it’s based on the contributions that people make. It’s not for the weak at heart. You really do have to be committed to looking stupid, being unusual and being a participant.”
Make sure you’re decked out in full Santa kit — just a hat is not enough — then meet up with your fellow Santas at 11:30 a.m. today at the Blue Bonnet, 457 South Broadway. From there, the group of jolly old elves will walk, use public transportation and maybe even take a sleigh ride around town to make merry mis-chief, handing out misfit toys to passersby along the way. It could go late, so prepare accordingly. Visit http://denver.cacophony.org for suggestions and more info.
