Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Isn’t it funny how adults need a good excuse for going to the zoo? Usually, we take advantage of children — they’re the most reliable pretext — but lots of groups just wait until it’s time for another Do at the Zoo to spy on naked polar bears and swim with the fishes in Tropical Discovery. This year’s Do, with its “Jammin’ in the Jungle” theme, includes a big welcome from honorary hostesses Mimi and Dolly, the zoo’s Asian elephants, who will paint pictures for an auction and boost their proposed Asian Tropics exhibit and elephant digs, which the event benefits.
Go forth and be a kid again: Three separate areas featuring food, music and drink will be open for your enjoyment throughout the zoo grounds, 2300 Steele Street, tonight from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.; for tickets, $100 to $275, call 303-376-4860 or go to www.denverzoo.org/doatthezoo.
