For tonight’s opening of An Office Christmas Party With LadyFace, the sketch-comedy troupe — known for bringing a diverse series of comical skits about life and love to the stage — gets deep into the holiday-tale canon.
“We tried to put in all of the Christmas things that we could possibly think of — we’ve got fat Santa, a mysterious ghost-like figure, an orphan child — and mash it together in an office party,” says LadyFace member Timmi Lasley.
When Spark Theater approached the group about writing and producing a holiday play, the only stipulation was the setting: It had to take place in an office. The rest was up to the five funny ladies. The resulting adult-themed story follows temp and “office skank” Beth Bickey (played by Kristin Rand) through inappropriate cubicle conversations and copy-room liaisons.
An Office Christmas Party plays tonight at 8 p.m. and continues on select dates through December 15 at Spark Theater, 985 Santa Fe Drive. Tickets, $12, are available at www.sparktheater.com. (Advance online purchase is recommended; sales at the door will be limited and cash-only.) Visit the website at sparktheater.org or call 720-346-7396 for more information.
