Behind the ubiquitous Warner Bros. entertainment brand stand the now nearly forgotten Warner brothers: Jack, Harry, Abe and Sam. The story of these four men and the multimedia empire they built is the subject of The Brothers Warner, a documentary from Cass Warner, granddaughter of Harry.

“It was a lot more fascinating than I ever expected. I never really put thought to the brothers behind the Warner Bros. outside of the Animaniacs cartoon,” says Keith Garcia, programming manager of the Denver Film Society. “And it was especially interesting to have it told from someone who was part of the family.”

From the early days of opening a movie theater to the end of the brothers’ involvement with the studio, Cass Warner weaves an intricate, in-depth and intimate portrait of a family business that became one of the biggest names in Hollywood, creating some of the most important and entertaining films of all time in the process.

The doc screens tonight only at 7 p.m. at Starz FilmCenter, in the Tivoli building on the Auraria campus. Director Cass Warner will appear in person for a Q&A and reception following the film. Tickets are $15, or $12 for DFS members. For more information, visit www.denverfilm.org or call 303-595-3456.
