Herd your posse of ragtag cowboys and Indians into the minivan for three days of Old West fun. Starting today and continuing through Sunday, the quickest guns in the land will be competing at Cripple Creek’s National World Fast-Draw Competition as part of the town’s Frontier & Chuckwagon Daze, which moseys along all weekend.

Highlights of the Daze include quick-draw contests every half hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus two real chuckwagons cooking and selling fajitas, chicken-fried steak, chili, stew, peach cobbler and biscuits as a fundraiser for the Colorado Mountain Rangers. In addition, the Indian village is the backdrop for presentations by the Seven Falls Native American Dancers.

And from noon to 5 p.m. tomorrow, bands such as Barry Ward, Sons and Brothers, and Wyatt and Terry Earp perform in the Gold Rush Outdoor Palladium, on the corner of Carr and Second streets. All events are free. For more information, gallop on over to www.cripple-creek.co.us or call the welcome center at 1-877-858-4653.
Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
