For the past seventeen years, the AIGA Colorado Heart Art Auction has sold local artists’ work around Valentine’s Day to benefit Project Angel Heart. This year, Heart Art 2012: A Feast for the Senses will also include a focus on food. “Denver has an exploding food culture that we definitely want to celebrate in this event,” explains Heart Art chair Felix Sanchez. “But we also think it ties in to Project Angel Heart’s mission to provide nutritious meals to people living in the state that are experiencing terminal illnesses.”
The night will be separated into courses, beginning with appetizers — both the edible kind, from Margs Taco Bistro, and an auction of smaller items — and continuing with cuisine from Bombay Clay Oven and desserts from Crave Dessert Bar & Lounge. The evening will end with the sale of the priciest art. All the work was donated from an open call for works relating to food, love and community, and includes everything from jewelry to paintings. In the mix will be Valentine’s-themed raffle prizes, such as dinners for two, MCA Denver memberships, and floral arrangements.
Project Angel Heart is dedicated to helping people with HIV/AIDS and cancer. Heart Art runs tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at Artwork Network, 878 Santa Fe Drive. For tickets, $30 single/$50 couples, visit www.heartartdenver.com.
