$20,000

If suds slingers at Great Divide Brewing could figure out a way to get beer flowing from Denver’s fire hydrants, they’d do it. Since that would just fuel the flames of beery bacchanalia, however, they’ve decided instead to simply close down the street in front of the brewery for a day and invite a few thousand of their closest friends to a massive seventeenth-anniversary bash.

“We like to close the street down so we can have a bigger party, and not just because it’s our birthday, but as a way to celebrate the community as a whole and craft beer in general,” says Great Divide spokeswoman Hanna Laney.
The Great Divide 17th Anniversary Party includes music from Lil’ Thunder, the Knew, Marty Jones and the Kentucky Street Parlor Pickers; street-truck food from Basic Kneads, Stick It to Me, Quiero Arepas and the Denver Cupcake Truck; and lots of beer, from Great Divide’s big brands to some secret small-batch stuff they made just for the party. “We are excited to bring out these one-offs,” Laney says. “We have multiple brewers on staff, and this is our chance to showcase that, to let them flex their muscle.”

The brewery, at 2201 Arapahoe Street, will rock from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include beer and one food coupon. For more information, go to www.greatdividebrewing.com. Find tickets at http://gd17anniversaryparty.eventbrite.com.
