Nobody actually enjoys working out. Sure, sweating yourself stupid might make you feel better about that Pete’s burrito with extra sour cream you killed after a disciplined night of Bacardi-and-diets. But the unflattering clothes, blotchy skin and heart-shattering cardio work? No chance.
Reverend White Eagle, a Denver motivational speaker and owner of Rocky Mountain Heartbeat Drums, agrees. “Have you ever gone to a gym and looked at the faces?” White Eagle asks. “No one is having fun. We’ve forgotten how to have fun.”
With that in mind, White Eagle will host today’s Utilizing the Spirit of Joy drum circle, part of a monthly drum-and-dance gathering inspired by Native American horoscopes.
“It’s a matter of teaching people to get in touch with their inner child and allowing the inner child to play every day,” White Eagle says.
