When Tran and Josh Wills started talking about closing Super Ordinary Gallery, which they’d been running out of their house, the Denver creative scene begged the couple to reconsider. “It worked, and we always had great turnouts and great support, but it was a little too much,” Tran recalls. But then she got an offer from Kyle Zeppelin, the developer of the Source, who had some space in his ware-house project and wanted something extraordinary to fill it.
So the Willses teamed up with Pedro Barrios and Bryan Cavanagh to create SVPER ORDINARY, which will be what they envisioned for their gallery from the start: a space that not only shows art, but sells artsy wares for the home. “With this new space, we can do half gallery, half retail,” Tran says. “It’s super design-focused; we have home goods, design arts, fashion books. We wanted to make it a go-to for designers and artists.”
And the gallery side of the venue will continue to show emerging artists working in all types of media; tonight’s opening reception for Máthēma will feature new works by graphic-design duo Berger & Föhr. Stop by SVPER ORDINARY, 3550 Brighton Boulevard, from 6 to 11 p.m. to check out the wares, grab a drink or a bite to eat from one of the neighboring restaurants and bars, or just hang out.
