Having fun and feeling good about yourself has never been easier than it will be tonight at the Colorado National Speedway, 4281 Weld County Road 10 in Erie, when the Shining Stars Celebrity Challenge revs up starting at 4 p.m. Benefiting the Shining Stars Foundation — which provides fun programs for kids with life-threatening diseases — the competition consists of more than a dozen races, including a truck race, a “different kind” of rally race and a ten-lap celebrity race with six media personalities tearing up the track in Legend Cars.

According to Ryanne Haditsch, executive assistant for the Shining Stars Foundation, “I think the combination of race cars, fireworks and celebrities is enough to keep any kid interested. Plus, the racing crowd is one we haven’t touched yet. This is the perfect opportunity to spread the word and raise awareness for childhood cancer and life-threatening disease.” Tickets are $10; for more information, race over to www.shiningstarsfoundation.com.

Sun., Sept. 2, 4-9 p.m.
