As if it weren’t enough to be a leading scholar of antique Asian textiles, Londoner Linda Wrigglesworth is also a designer whose elegantly tailored art-to-wear fashions — inspired by Chinese imperial costumery of the Qing Dynasty — are nothing short of gorgeous. Wrigglesworth and fellow expert Gary Dickinson will be in town as guests of the Denver Art Museum’s Asian Art Association to speak and present From East to West: Exhibition and Trunk Show, an event featuring both magnificent old textiles and fabulous new ones.
Dickinson offers historical insights on the East-West fashion cross-pollination at a reception, buffet dinner and lecture tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place; in addition, Wrigglesworth’s collections will be on view today from 3 to 5 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lecture admission ranges from $25 to $40; for reservations (required), call 720-913-0040. Trunk show admission is free.
