The Chipotle Sustainable Food Film Series is in its fourth year at the Denver Botanic Gardens – and that longevity has a lot to do with the sense of community that the series has created. “There’s a growing desire to know more about the food industry, where our food comes from and how it’s grown,” says DBG spokeswoman Erin Bird, “and how we, as consumers, can support sustainable practices and have a positive impact on the environment.”
So the Gardens provides the space to watch the film and talk about it while Chipotle provides the food. “People seem to enjoy the opportunity to see films that might not have had a wide screening in theaters,” Bird adds. “I think the selection of films this year runs the gamut – we’ll be watching films about everything from small homegrowing to looking at large food corporations and the root of what they’re doing.”
The series opens tonight at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, with A Place at the Table and will continue on September 23 with GMO OMG. It runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and admission is $5, which includes the food provided by Chipotle, the film screening and a panel discussion. Visit botanicgardens.org or call 720-865-3500.
