“We wanted to take Earth Month and use it as a vehicle to highlight the impact of supporting organic sustainability and your local farmers,” notes Amy Wright, marketing and community-relations manager at Whole Foods Tamarac. “Whole Foods has a commitment to being an educational resource and also raising awareness about food, and we have an ongoing partnership with Fresh City Life, so this was just a natural fit in terms of our commitment to providing educational resources to the community.”

That’s the momentum behind this month’s Fresh City Life film series, Food Fight: Retaking Our Plates. Every Monday at 6 p.m. at the Denver Central Library, 10 West 14th Avenue Parkway, a different food- and sustainability-centric film will screen for free, so you can start greening your plate. “Every bite has a story,” Wright says. Tonight’s is Food Fight, about American agricultural policy and how it’s developed along with food culture in the twentieth century.

Mark your calendars for a free screening of the granddaddy of all food-and-sustainability films, Food, Inc., at the Mayan Theatre, 110 Broadway, on April 22.
