It takes a good round of networking to connect like-minded groups and form a community, and that’s the thinking behind Red Drinks Denver, a new fashion-world take on the Green Drinks model, which was devised to unite people working in the environmental arena. A democratic event dreamed up jointly by local fashion movers Tricia Hoke, Deb Henriksen and Lisa Ramford Elstun, who’ve partnered with Fashion Group International, and based partly on the old Self-Made series for Denver artists, Red Drinks debuted in March. “It’s basically a big networking event,” says Hoke (part of Westword’s 2011 MasterMinds class). “We’re trying to bring people downtown and get the local fashion community we have here to join forces a little bit.”
The party runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mario’s Double Daughter’s Salotto, 1632 Market Street, and continues every first Tuesday night of the month; Red Drink happy-hour specials and pizzetta bites are included, courtesy of Double Daughter’s. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to fancy up by donning their favorite red outfits and accessories; each month, Red Drinks features speakers, presentations, trunk shows, mini-fashion shows and more. Tonight, meet the folks from Denver Design Incubator and enjoy a presentation and Parisian-style fashion show by Fashion Denver.
