The annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering is finally legal this year, having reached the ripe old age of 21. Liz Masterson has been involved since the beginning — and even if you didn’t get tickets to tonight’s sold-out Baxter Black performance, she says there’s still plenty to be excited about. “We have a group called Wylie and the Wild West coming for the first time on Sunday, and he’s a superb yodeler,” Masterson reveals. “He was the yodeling voice on the Yahoo! commercial, but that’s not even a warmup for him.”

Other highlights include music and poetry sessions tomorrow and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. “They offer four stages of continuous entertainment,” Masterson points out, “and each stage has four performers, so for a small fee you can see a huge variety of poets and singers.”

The Cowboy Poetry Gathering runs today through Sunday at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Boulevard in Arvada; get details at www.arvadacenter.org or 720-898-7200.
