Although it’s still Untitled, the Denver Art Museum’s series is never unwelcome. This year’s series, which kicks off tonight, has a rather mischievous theme: Borrowing from the concept of the current (and soon to end) Embrace! exhibit, for which a group of artists literally “took over” the museum to create site-specific installations, Untitled # 27: Rogue invites participants to act a little rascally themselves by partaking in things like “rogue” yoga with Breathe Yoga Studio, live music in unlikely places and live theater — Buntport’s ongoing serial sitcom The Joan and Charlie Show — performed “poolside” (actually in the third-floor freight elevator). Also on the agenda will be an Embrace! tour with museum curator Christoph Heinrich, a gallery tour with art historian Giulia Bernardini, a chance to meet some of the Embrace! artists in person, and a hilarious heart-to-heart with Denver draftsman Bill Amundsen.
“One of the cool things about Untitled is that it’s really buffet style; it’s not linear,” says the DAM’s Ashley Pritchard. “There are lots of things going on at the same time: art-making, quizzes — you can even get a special sticker and then go out and find your other ‘rogue’ people. It’s a great, funky way to enjoy the museum at your own speed.”
Future installments — scheduled on every last Friday of the month through August — will look into the outer limits of photography, design, slow art, the Biennial of the Americas and King Tut. Admission is free with the regular DAM fee of $3 to $13, or two-for-one at the door for students with a valid ID.
