Have you known for years the identity of the Half-Blood Prince, and even how the entire epic tale of Harry Potter ends — but still can’t wait to see the big-screen version of the sixth book hit movie theaters next week? Relax, Muggle. In honor of the July 15 release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the Rangeview Library District is hosting Pottermania! at the Commerce City Branch Library, 7185 Monaco Street in Commerce City. “Harry Potter is so popular in our libraries,” notes communications director Steve Hansen. In other words, the library is just trying to give Potter his due.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Whomping Willows will play their unusual brand of music, all focusing on the details of the series as viewed by the much-abused Whomping Willow on the school grounds. The Remus Lupins will also play a set; in between, the wizards and witches behind www.the-leaky-cauldron.org — which hosts a weekly award-winning podcast — will treat guests to a live version of Pottercast, joining the worldwide discussion about this much-loved series of books.

For information on Pottermania!, visit www.anythinklibraries.org or call 303-287-0063.
Tue., July 7, 5:30 p.m., 2009
