Unless a state emergency forces her to be elsewhere, First Lady Jeannie Ritter will mingle with a bunch of winos at tonight’s Celebration of Premier Colorado Wines at the Governor’s Mansion, 400 East Eighth Avenue. The party, a benefit for the Governor’s Residence Restoration Fund, will push a project the First Lady started back in 2007, to preserve and promote the facility.
“Mrs. Ritter recognized immediately upon moving into the century-old executive residence that we needed to build an endowment fund to secure the welfare of the building and also give the community a meaningful experience in Colorado’s home,” says Margy Moseley, the fund’s executive director. And there’s nothing more meaningful than wine — especially Colorado wines, which are finally beginning to get the credit they deserve.
This soiree, hosted by the Denver Chapter of the American Wine Society, will showcase medal-winning Colorado wines, judged by industry grape geeks. Tickets are $50 per person (or $90 per couple) and include wine tastings, food samplings, live music and tours of the governor’s residence; bottles from the represented wineries will also be available for purchase.
