Parents tired of standing in long lines at the mall to see Santa should take their kids bowling with the guy who best impersonated the jolly old elf: the Grinch. This morning from 10 a.m. to noon, Splitz Bowling Center hosts the tall green one for its second annual Grinch Who Bowled Christmas. But before he makes his way along the lanes to greet bowlers, the Dr. Seuss film that made him famous will play on a 180-inch projection screen above the lanes.

This year, Splitz is showing the old-school cartoon version instead of last year’s choice, the live-action Jim Carrey flick. According to marketing director D’ette McElroy, after seeing Carrey’s scary Grinch, a few of the littler bowlers were less than thrilled to meet the real thing.

Cough up $8.25 for one bowling game, shoe rental, doughnuts and juice — plus a chance to win goodies such as bowling packages from Splitz or gift packs that include the Grinch book and a stuffed Max, the Grinch’s much-beleaguered pup.

Splitz is at 10685 Westminster Boulevard in Westminster; call 303-466-7515 or visit www.splitzhappen.com for reservations and information.
