People are facing hard times these days, and tonight’s production of A Little Frayed at the Edge features characters navigating tough circumstances that take them to the edge of despair and determination — something many of us can relate to.

“These are stories that might be about the life of your neighbor, only you don’t know what they’re dealing with,” explains Debbie Knapp, producer and director of Colorado Homegrown Tales. “The stories really get the audience’s empathy and make them think, ‘What would I do if faced with this situation?’

For A Little Frayed at the Edge, Knapp selected recent work by homegrown writers Lynn Hamilton, Laura Hendrie and Jenny Meyer. “We have some incredible local authors living here,” she says, “and our Colorado authors are just as good as the national ones.” A single actor will read all the pieces.

The show starts at 6 p.m. at the Denver Book Mall, 32 Broadway; tickets are $10. To make a reservation, call 720-233-0811; for more information, visit www.homegrowntales.com.
