We all know that Avalanche players can work it on the ice rink; they’re professionals, for crying out loud. But can they bowl? That’s for them to know and you to find out at this evening’s Cruisin’ the Lanes Celebrity Bowling Tournament, which starts at 6 p.m. at Lucky Strike Lanes in the Denver Pavilions, 500 16th Street.
Avs team members have hosted the event for five years, with the torch handed off to newbies each year. John-Michael Liles will do the honors this time around. “It’s kind of neat the way that they keep passing the baton to a younger player who takes up the cause,” notes the tournament’s Jane Carroll Andrade.
General admission is $100 and includes food, four drink tickets and extras such as karaoke and an auction for a date with one of America’s Next Top Models. Stellar. After the Avs and other celebrities — including former Broncos, screen stars and more — attempt to out-bowl each other, the lanes will open up to attendees. Additional sponsorship levels are available; get more information at www.cruisinthelanes.com.
