First of all, 7dancers spokesman Lee Prosenjak notes, there are actually eight dancers in the cast of Passengers, but that’s not what makes this travel-themed production so different. It won’t be performed on a stage or even in a set area, but will instead trek through the expanses of a retail space, Liesl Lighting, at 326 South Broadway.

“The audience is actually going to journey physically between four themed sets, each with a different feel,” Prosenjak explains. “One is a subway scene, another is a carnivale-type festival, and so on.” And the evening will feature dance styles to match: an eclectic grab bag of ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop and breakdancing that flits and floats from scene to scene, uniquely lit by the venue’s beautiful existing light fixtures.

Because of the idiosyncratic setting, audiences will be limited at each show, including today’s, which embarks at 3:07 p.m. Additional performances continue on October 16 and 17; for tickets, $17 to $27, and more information, go to www.7dancers.com or call 303-399-8087.

Sun., Oct. 11, 3:07 p.m.; Fri., Oct. 16, 7:37 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 17, 3:07 & 7:37 p.m., 2009
