When the Glenlivet was looking for a new way to market its Scotch whiskey, brand director Andy Nash led a brainstorming session asking his team to think of the other best things to come out of Scotland. The answer was golf, and the resulting promotion sounds like a helluva fun way to spend a lunch hour — especially if you work downtown.

The Glenlivet City Links is an indoor, urban-scaled, nine-hole golf course fashioned like traditional Scottish greens, complete with water hazards, bridges and sand trips. The traveling course was designed by famed course designer Arne Lundmark and has been proportioned to fit in a 10,000-square-foot space in the Denver Pavilions, where it opens today. It’s free to play the course or use the virtual driving range, but the Glenlivet is asking for charitable donations to benefit the Metro Community Providers Network.

The course is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through April 13, and again from April 17 through the 20, on the second floor of the Pavilions, 500 16th Street. Sadly, because of liquor-licensing rules, Nash says there will be no whiskey-sampling during those hours.

Tuesdays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Starts: April 11. Continues through April 20
